Re: 020606 Curtis To All, Age Of Membership In The STRS
Hello Dave,
I have gotten no impression that the STRS board is looking at changing anything with SB 190. There has been allot of discussion about such, because many do not fully understand what Buck Consultants presented and what the ramifications of such are. That is only my opinion from what I have been present to hear. Others may have a different view of such.

This is impressive and a loud warning that messing with any of our 1999 increases could be doubly dangerous for those of the oldest years as they retired with so much less. Allowing the legislature to look at anything right now is a dangerous proposition, especially for these folks who benefited the most from the 1999 enhancements by increasing their buying power.

Hello Everyone,
I asked Sandy Knoesel for some information I found very interesting and thought I would pass it along. This should give you a consideration for our future need for our pension check and health care. We are living longer and will need these two components for many years to come.
I asked for the number of STRS members now 100 years of age and above, as I had been told it was a considerable number and it is.
There are 95 of them, 10 males and 85 females.
From the age of 90 to 99 there are 3,010.
436 males and 2,574 females.
From the age of 80 to 89 there are 12,526.
3,932 males and 8,594 females.
I received a breakdown of all members of the STRS by age. Here is some of what I received.
