MMOH' s refusal -- food for thought

Note from John - yes, I have Sondra's permission for the distribution. Yes, it deals with only one person's affliction -- BUT is there a pattern here? Have you also been given the run-around due to your health care provider providing poor service? John

Subject: MMOH' s refusal
John, Since we have been emailing a lot about HC insurance, I thought I would pass this along.
My orthopaedic doctor sent me for an MRI of my wrist and also my neck. I received a call from Proscan telling me that MMOH had Ok'ed the MRI of my wrist but refused the MRI of my neck. I have not learned the reason yet but will follow up it very soon.
As I have said before, I problems with bulging discs in my neck. I hurt myself a few months back and am having trouble with numbness and pain completely down both arms but especially the left side is and has been troublesome.
Here is the real catch. I can not see a specialist to learn if the bulging disc is worse or just what is going on UNTIL I have an MRI that is less than 6 months old. The last one was taken 2 years ago. So, I was asked if I wanted to have it and pay for it out of pocket!!!! YEAH RIGHT!!! That is what I am paying the big bucks for!!!!!
I WILL LEARN THE REASON AND WON'T give up on it! As bad as I hate MRI's I can't live like this indefinitely. Just thought it would be a nice tidbit to pass along to everyone. We pay for the insurance and then are refused to use it. I wonder if anyone ever considers that the doctors we see know our conditions better than a complete stranger sitting whereever the heck they sit!!!!
