Nancy Hamant: Legislators catering to big donors?

This proposed legislation (Michelle Schneider) seems to be a way to reintroduce her 2003 idea to have Ohio investment firms get a "piece of the action" from investing monies from Ohio's five public pension funds. There is nothing now to keep any of the five pension funds from utilizing Ohio investment businesses. Each of the pension funds boards must vote on such arrangements currently. Legislation that might require percentages to be given to Ohio businesses will effectively tie the hands of the STRS Board and any/all of the other four pension funds which might be added to the proposed legislation.
When will the past legislative members stop trying to cater to those who probably have contributed heavily to their campaigns?
