How 'bout Board C?

Board C
(Note: you won't find this in Ohio Schools)
▪ Governs lawfully.....translation: we will if we think anybody's watching, or if someone forces us to make legal decisions.
▪ Primary emphasis on results for members.....you might think this means positive results, but if you look at the track record of OEA members of the STRS Board, this can spell only one thing: anything BUT positive results for STRS members, but plenty of positive results for OEA-affiliated Board members -- lots of perks and a nice, prestigious spot on the OEA board; anything and everything to make us look important and intelligent, whether that's the case or not. We are sheep, directed by a very few at the top of the OEA food chain, but we don't know that, nor do we care.
▪ Encourages full exploration of diverse viewpoints........yes, as long as they're the viewpoints of friendly OEA members who agree with everything we say and do.
▪ Focus on strategic governance matters rather than operational issues.....translation: we don't want to be bothered with what goes on here at the STRS building; we'd rather hand the ball to the executive director and let him run with it so we can spend our energy trying to make ourselves look intelligent and competent in Board meetings by discussing "strategic governance" issues (and don't ask us for a definition of that!).
▪ Observes clear separation of board and CEO roles.....translation: as long as the executive director does nice favors for us behind the scenes, of COURSE we will look the other way and not scrutinize anything he does! Heavens -- why should we?
▪ Makes all decisions by formal vote of the board.....translation: you can't BEGIN to know what goes on behind your back; we just put this in to make it look like we're Doing The Right Thing. Most of the time we don't have a CLUE what the "right thing" is!
▪ Governs with long-term vision.....translation: you have no IDEA what we have in mind; we can't WAIT till Leone and Lazares are gone -- we will invite all the old Board members back and have a big celebration (at your expense, of course); our theme song will be "Happy Days are Here Again" and we will take all our cues from the former Board members. They can direct us, along with the current OEA governance; after all, look how much experience they've had!
