RH Jones: Three reasons not to vote for McCain

From RH Jones, May 11, 2008
Subject: Three reasons to not vote for McCain
To all:
Here are three good reasons educators, who the NEA reports are mostly Republican, should NOT vote for Mc Cain:
1. He thinks merit pay should be based student test scores!
2. He strongly supports NCLB while refusing to properly fund it.
3. He supports trade laws that send jobs overseas, but does not want federal tax dollars to go to America’s Public Schools to give students the education to compete in the global economy.
By the way, I have found that American PreK-12 public school board members, and public university board members, are also a majority of GOP “Grab Our Pension” Republicans. And, most probably, since our active and retired teacher unions are mostly teachers, would not one then conclude the union’s membership, and their union boards, are mostly Republican as well? Then, is it no wonder active and retired professional educators are so far down on salary and fringe benefits when compared with other college trained professionals? Since educators mostly vote GOP, I would think that if, or when, Democratic politicians are in power, those politicians also would not want to properly fund public education. Like the old Beatles song: “When will we ever learn, when will we ever learn”.
