I am profoundly devastated.
Why did I ever choose education bringing my family to such dire and catastrophic economic ruin? I have no way to meet these costs beyond our small investments and then, I suppose I join the ranks of selling my home, stopping meds and no Dr. visits come 2010.

WHERE IS THE ACTIVE ROLE OF INCREASING CONTRIBUTIONS?
It has only increased .9% in 20 yrs. with raises and step increases to meet the increase while our health care has increased approx. 500% just for premiums which does not include out of pockets changes from 0% to now looking at approx. 40% and RX coverages of paying up to $75 - $125 each for some meds which are mandatory for us-no generic or generics are not effective in some cases. My husband takes 15 meds to get out of bed and function.

WHERE IS OEA? ORTA? OFT? CEA? CEA-R? OEA-R???

It is all about the retirees paying with no real consideration of 'tough choices' for actives to share in costs. Increased contributions for actives too are long overdue and would have saved health care if done incrementally long ago. $160 per month for actives vs. $930 increase for retirees per month is very unbalanced and unfair. WHERE IS THE SHARING OF RESPONSIBILITY? WHY? Because ACTIVES ARE MAKING THESE DECISIONS AND WISH TO REMAIN UNSCATHED WHILE GOING FOR 35 YRS AT 88% OF FAS TO MORE EASILY PAY FOR THEIR RETIREMENTS!

Is is a travesty and a grossly abusive slaying of retirees' retirements with no moral or ethical decision making on behalf of active educators running the show on this board OEA heavy handed that it is and soon to be not even a discussion come 9/09.

I am betrayed, depressed, strapped and forgotten by the very organizations I helped grow and who have thrown me into the darkness.

Legislators do not oversee or make balanced and shared responsibility a mandate.
The Governor does not dictate. OEA does not even 'see us.'
We are invisible throw aways who are smirked at and dismissed.
