Tom Curtis to Mike Nehf: Fourth request on cost reductions

Subject: 090509 Curtis To Nehf, STRS Staff Cost Reductions (4th Request)
Hello Mike,
This is the 4th time I have sent you the request below and have yet to receive any acknowledgement to date. That is unacceptable, sir!
If you for one minute think that the stakeholders are going to allow you and your staff to go forward with business as usual, you are sadly mistaken.
You and your staff have received continued increases in salary and have taken few, if any decrease in benefits during this decade, yet our retirement fund has suffered in excess of a $42 BILLION dollar loss.
It inconceivable to think that the STRS staff is so greedy [as] to believe that the stakeholders are the only ones to receive the severe cuts that will be recommended to the ORSC on September 9th.
The goose that lays the golden egg (educators) have had it with the poor business decisions, mismanagement and misspending by the STRS staff.

Hello Mike,
Now that we the stakeholders have seen what recommendations you and the board are recommending to the ORSC, it is time to see what reductions you will be making concerning the STRS staff.
In a recent email, you indicated to me that all of the possible cuts I had recommended were being considered.
So, what cuts have you and the board authorized for the staff? Please be specific and include the dates when they will take place.
I look forward to a timely response.
