RH Jones on Kenneth Blackwell: The Race for Governor of OH

Sent: Monday, November 28, 2005
Subject: The Race for Governor of OH

To all:

The Akron Beacon Journal today, 11-28-05, Front page article, & cont. on Page 4, mentioned:
"If Blackwell makes it to the November general election, he would be on the ballot with a constitutional amendment he is helping to shepherd -- along with businessman David Brennan -- that would impose growth limits on state government."

Further on the article quoted Blackwell as saying:
"I am an advocate for open enrollment, alternative schools, vouchers and charter schools."

By the way: His "wife, Rosa is superintendent of Cincinnati schools"---.

My take: His wife, Rosa, being the superintendent of Cincinnati Schools represents -- since Kenneth is a strong advocate of charter schools -- is a conflict of interest. Although he is the front runner GOP OH Governor candidate, his ultra conservatism, and strong ties with White Hat's David Brennan, represents a threat to the funding our public schools and its retirement system: the STRS OH. Therefore, it is NOT in the best interest of the CORE group to suggest that he be our next OH governor.
