Paul Boyer to Mike Jordan: Another flamer; must-read

February 19, 2006
Paul Boyer's letter sent 2/16/06 to Mike Jordan, OEA mover and shaker at Bath Middle School, Allen County, after he mistreated a CORE member who was in the building to get signatures. Mike has so far not responded.

Mike, maybe somewhere along the line you missed the fact that when a person is in your building or teachers' lounge legally after checking in to the office, and especially when that person does some subbing in your system, you have no right to challenge them as to why thy are there or what they are doing. Actually, Mike, they were exercising their rights as a citizen. I understand that you took advantage of a situation because this person was looking for signatures on an STRS Board candidate different from the one(s) you are supporting.

Wake up, Mike, it was your OEA endorsed and elected members on the board that had control for almost two decades until 2005 as a result of Dr. Leone publishing his 13 page paper in early 2003 listing all of the ways that the Executive Director and the OEA board members were looting our (retirees) money by spending it on themselves. Mr. Dyer even replied to a letter from an Ohio retiree living in Florida that "this is the board's money to spend as it sees fit." What a prevarication.

I must remind you that I am a life member of OEA, OEA-R and NEA. When I was teaching I was probably one of the hardest working OEA members going. I think I probably voted for at least one of the board members that was still on when we started working to clear them out. I have had my eyes opened now.

Unfortunately, there are two members still on the board that were appointed by the old OEA board to fill positions of two members who retired. They are now holding the offices of Chair and Vice-chair when they were not eligible for the positions because of length of time remaining on their terms. Most of what they have both done since taking these offices has been negative. On two or three occasions they have lied to the board in voting for expenditures in the millions of dollars when they had no written proof to see exactly what they were buying. The chair, at the urging of the vice-chair, even declared Dr. Leone out of order when he tried to offer a substitute motion. That was strictly against Roberts' Rules of Order. A substitute motion may be made at any time by any member; it must be voted on first and if it passes, the original motion is dead.

Immediately after Dr. Leone published his paper, Gary Allen sent a letter to all local presidents telling them that there was nothing true in the report and to ignore it. Everything has been validated by STRS officials and we, CORE, have been successful in getting a lot of it changed. Gary to this day has never met with Dr. Leone even though he promised before the last election that he would meet with whoever was elected. He has refused to make any move for reconciliation with Dr. Leone even though Leone has written more than one letter to him.

In closing, I assume that you intend to retire one of these days. If you want a good retirement income, complete with health care, then I suggest that you get on board with us and quit harassing our people. By the way, I do not believe that I have ever seen you at a board meeting, which I attended faithfully for almost three years until my health forced me to stop.

If you are so concerned about STRS, I know you could have found a way to attend some board meetings. They meet in the summer except for July and I am sure that Bath Schools allows personal days.

I notice that Tim Myers from Elida is there at almost every meeting.
