RH Jones: Assault on Educating Ohio's Youngsters Continues

From RH Jones, June 26, 2006
According to Matthew S. Platz in the e-mailed Education Update, Couglin introduced SJR9 June 9, 2006 that: "Limits taxable value of real property at 2-percent per year."
To me, this bill represents yet another GOP attack on education -- the largest recipient of real property taxes. The GOP, as you know, has worked hard to keep the school funding source mainly from property taxes. Everyone who pays property taxes is screaming; but the GOP has not given an alternative and has ignored the OH Constitution concerning education. THIS BILL WOULD CONTINUE THE CUTTING OF SCHOOL FUNDING BELOW THE LEVEL OF INFLATION.
Note: The root word for progressive is progress.
