A commentary from Ralph Lloyd

Republicans like money very much, just ask Bob Ney, Noe, Abramoff, Bob Taft, et al to name a few. When we passed the amendment to limit state voted offices to two terms, we were naive and never did it occur to us that the Republican party would use it to make hay while the sun shines. They play a game of musical chairs, which is how Voinovich and Dewine got elected to their offices. When Joe Blow gets elected to the office of Secretary of State and spends his two terms in that office, the next office he will run for will probably be State Treasurer, and then he spends two terms in that office, that's sixteen years in some sort of State Office, and he has yet ahead of him the offices of Lt. Governor, Governor, State Auditor, and Attorney General, that's a total of thirty-two years more in State Offices plus the sixteen more as Secretary of State and State Treasurer. Just think he or she can accumulate 48 years in the Columbus State office. Boy, that will be a real good retirement, and at whose expense, why the public, of course. Oh I forgot to say that if Joe decides to run for Senator to the Federal Legislature, that's at least four more in public service, just think of the impact that can have on us as private citizens.
