Shirlee Zerkel re: Leibensperger letter
Subject: A Thought on your letter to Kathie
Dear Mr. Leibensperger:
I have read both your letter and the speech of Ms. Frost-Brooks concerning our STRS Board and staff. I hear what you are saying, but I also listen between your lines of print. That says much more! You state that you understand and accept that there will be individuals who will not support the majority view. I think you and the OEA understand but do not accept any dissent. I thought free speech is what America's freedom is about. You also stated "The OEA chooses to address issues, not personalities." If that is true, why did you in the same paragraph send arrows to Ms. Jancyzk, Mr. Leone and Mr. Lazares? We retired teachers are not sheep as you would like us to be. Neither are the three that you threw arrows at. They are intelligent, thinking persons who are speaking up for the real majority, the retirees. We as members and recipients of STRS do have the right to express our opinions as does each any every member of the STRS Board. All motions brought before the body of the board should be listened to and discussed and voted on.
Ashamed to be a life member of OEA,
Shirlee Zerkel
