John Curry to active educators: Only one STRS Board member voted NO on those bonuses -- it's YOUR money!

Subject: Have you hugged your Ohio STRS bonus today? Today's Columbus Dispatch discusses STRS bonuses, other state retirement syst. bonuses, & CalSTRS bonuses

WHS administrators and educators... this is about "your" STRS. The bonuses below were approved by all members of the STRS Board (including the OEA active educator members)...the only STRS Board member dissenting to bonuses given while the STRS lost 25 Billion (yes "Billion") dollars in investments during the last year was STRS board member Dr. Dennis Leone. Dr. Leone is not against the concept of paying bonuses to the investments staff but...he is against awarding bonuses of YOUR MONEY at a time when STRS (and your investments at STRS) took a $25 billion hit. Please forward this on to your fellow educators. All of this at a time when the 2009 monthly healthcare premium (80/20 PPO) for retired educators (pre-65) with a spouse will be over $900 per month. Stay in teaching as long as you can!
