Mr. Mahoney.... would you like to listen to a recording?

From John Curry, March 23, 2009
Subject: OEA Responds to STRS Board candidate comments on STRS bonuses
Mr. Mahoney,
In your letter below I find it interesting that you talk of "privacy of member e-mail." Nowhere in your memo did you mention that anybody (especially vendors) can walk right into the STRS building, put out their hand in payment, and obtain an STRS CD which contains all the names and addresses of every stakeholder (both active educators and retirees categorized by zip code) who are STRS retirees and who are active contributing educators to the STRS. Nowhere in your memo did you mention that the Ohio Department of Education furnished thousands of STRS contributor e-mail addresses of these very same stakeholders to Mr. Stoll.
You also have forgotten to mention to your Board of Directors, District Leaders, and Local Presidents that your very own endorsed and OEA card-carrying STRS Board members (Meuser, Myers and Ramser) did not vote, at the March STRS meeting, to suspend the PBI bonuses to the STRS investment staff -- Meuser and Myers voted to keep the PBI (bonus) plan intact and Ramser abstained from the vote! Gee, Mr. Mahoney, is the OEA on the side of the active teachers who despise the overly generous bonuses already given to the investments staff or...on the side of those wanting to continue to give bonuses to the STRS investment staff? With a "no" vote coming out of the mouths of Meuser, Myers, and an abstention from Ramser it sure sounds like they are for the bonuses, doesn't it? If you have problems believing this I will gladly send you a sound recording (in CD form) of the March 2009 STRS Board meeting which contains this documentation.
Mr. Mahoney, your membership is a lot smarter than you believe and they do read the news concerning the sorrowful status of many state pension systems....STRS included. That March 2009 STRS Board meeting was recorded and is available to ALL STRS contributors/retirees. All they have to do is just listen to it!
John Curry
