Tom Curtis re: OEA's big bucks for STRS board seats

From Tom Curtis, March 20, 2011
Subject: OEA expenditures to get Carol Correthers elected to the STRS board?
Now tell me, who could possibly win an active seat on the STRS board when they would be up against the big money the OEA puts out for their candidate?
Well, there was only ever one that did. John Lazares won the active seat in 2004 with the help of CORE. The OEA spent in excess of $100,000 that year in their attempt to re-elect Eugene Norris. Eugene was the chairman of the board in 2004.
Since 2004, all active seats have been won by either OEA- (vast majority) or OFT-sponsored candidates.
