The Boyers are moving -- but not too far

Best wishes to Paul and Alice as they prepare for their move late this summer!
From Paul Boyer, June 21, 2006
Alice and I have been looking at retirement living for the last few months and they are building a new Primrose Retirement Center here in Lima. The main building is a large U-shaped structure with various size apartments for independent living. There is another building for assisted living behind it and a row of villas West of it for independent living.
I took my check out today and we have secured the largest apartment in the building, a little over 1100 square feet. I believe it was an answer to prayer. When we were there on Monday, there were two of these apartments available but this one is large then any. Since then, someone else decided they wanted that apartment but for some reason they changed their minds and took the one at the other end of the building. I had prayed that if we were to have this one, the Lord would hold it for us. Our West window will look out over the garages and villas.
Our apartment has a small complete kitchen with disposal, living/dining area, two bedrooms and a bath and a half with a shower in one and not the other. It will be quite a downsizing for us but I think we can make it work. We pay a flat fee per month which includes all expenses, plus one main meal a day but excluding telephone. There are a lot of other amenities in the building such as chapel, four dining rooms, beauty salon, library/computer room and free washers and dryers on each floor. There is also a 1950's ice cream parlor with free ice cream and several open lounging areas. There is an emergency pull cord in every room to call a nurse if needed. No garage but free valet service to a parking garage.
There is a garbage disposal in the kitchen. There is a button for each apartment at the main door and when we have visitors, they can push the button and we can buzz the door open if it is locked. There are also washer/dryer facilities on the second floor right down the hall from us. They will hang all of our pictures for us.
We are both in our 80's now and our children just feel that we need to be somewhere where we can get help when we need it. Pray with us that the Lord will help this to work out.
Paul
