Tom Cooper to Mark Meuser, October 23, 2006
Subject: Trust
Mr. Meuser;
Now that you are in office, I would like to ask some new questions. Hopefully, I will receive the same prompt response time that I received to my questions when you were running for office.
1. I would like to know what justification you could possibly give to agreeing to spending MY money, as well as the money of all retirees, both current and future, on contracts you have not even seen, let alone read.
2. It has been made clear by many of the retirees you represent that it is exactly counter to the wishes of STRS membership that voting on contracts without even looking at them is highly undesirable, if not unethical.
I would like to know the justification for ignoring the wishes of your constituents.
Of course, it is possible that many non-CORE members feel voting for paying something without knowing eactly what they you are voting for is sound economic policy. If you have a list of members who actually think that is good business and should be the policy, I would like to know the e-mail addresses of said members so that I can ask them to educate me in this wisdom of this procedure.
3.You were sent to the STRS Board in good faith to right the many wrongs of the past. What have you done to date, toward that end?
Tom Cooper
