RH Jones: Damaging legislation being sponsored by Rep. Wachtmann

From RH Jones, March 12, 2007
Subject:
Rep. Lynn Wachtmann (R) wants to hammer workers

To all;
State Representative Lynn Wachtmann(R), 75th District, is hammering nails into Ohio workers who may want prevailing wages to construct a school district's classroom facilities. He wishes to get co-sponsors for legislation that would require the Ohio School Facilities Commission to reduce the state funds by 20% if the district requires contractors to pay the prevailing rate of wages.
I do not think that he realizes that quality workers need a living wage. Would he want his voters' children to go to school facilities constructed by poorly paid labor? The resulting poorly constructed and shoddy faculties would put public school children at risk. Ohio workers pay taxes as well as the contractors who employ them. Therefore, should not all contractors, workers, and all of us want the best for children. I do. So should Rep. Wachtmann.
All voters should be outraged at the thought of this legislation ever becoming law. The pox on any Ohio legislator that would co-sponsor such an ill conceived hurtful bill such as this one. Beware of those who would endanger children by trying to build school facilities "on the cheap." Someone once said: "You get what you pay for." And, 75th District voters, also: "You get what you vote for".
