Subject: Dennis Leone: Appointed Ohio Univ.-Chillicothe Interim Special Assistant
This position will include OVERSIGHT of a marketing study and several administration areas including supervisory duties of reports.
Isn't it interesting that Leone receives accolades such recognition from other positions, Journalism awards for his report on STRS, educator advocacy awards from other Ohio grps., has long and involved Board experience prior to STRS and yet is continually fingered by some as unable to discuss or the one who causes a problem on the STRS Board?
Posing a question: Is it possible this is because he is determined to do the right thing regardless of other organizational positions: 'Look the other way', Don't cause waves or pound your shoe' (or even a ripple or tap), and since money wasted won't pay for HC anyway, "What is the big deal?" , "Who does it hurt?" (G. Meyers; J. Fisher).'' Then there is still the behavior and excuses even today of: "It's politics and you can expect more of the same" (said to be Gary Hollow) regarding direct misrepresentation of Leone's status as a Board candidate in 2005 tho he was a confirmed and easily verified candidate with a simple phone call. That was too easy and better to go with rumor to cloud the issue and then claim ignorance (NEOEA Newsletter). Now, at OEA meetings we still are hearing of the 'few malcontents', 'keep away from CORE,' etc.
Tom Mooney said many times: "I talk with Leone just fine. I don't know what the problem is with anyone who can't. He is direct and feels strongly about issues. I (Mooney) do too. " The point is : What is the issue and what is the right thing not who is there to just get along or afraid to make ripples.
Leone is recognized for his talents and praised for his advocacy by so many. Interesting how some cannot even mention his accomplishments and we should understand that it would not be in their best interest to do so since Leone embarrassed them by doing their job of oversight. I only care about his points! That should be everyone's concerns.
CONGRATULATIONS, DR. LEONE!
