Paul Boyer to Rep. Huffman re: HB 151

From Paul Boyer, June 4, 2007
Subject: HB 151

Dear Honorable Representative Huffman:
I am writing to you as a retired teacher and one of your constituents in Lima. The purpose of this letter is to ask you to vote AGAINST HB 151. If passed into law, this bill could eventually cause the end of the State Teachers Retirement System and others. This money belongs to the active and retired teachers of Ohio who have had the money deducted from their salaries during their teaching careers.
Our investment staff has done a formidable job of greatly increasing the value of our investments but it would cost hundreds of millions of dollars to pull out our investment in many companies which do only a small part of their business in Iran.
For the past four years I have been a part of a large group of retired Ohio teachers who have banded together to help save STRS from some corrupt board members and Executive Director and now the legislature wants to tell us how to invest OUR money, not the state's money.
Again, I implore you to vote AGAINST this bill and do what you can to persuade others to vote against it.
Sincerely,
Rev. Paul L. Boyer
