Kathie Bracy: Letter to Rep. Cliff Hite

Dear Rep. Hite,

I am SHOCKED to learn that you, a retired teacher and coach, are a co-sponsor of HB 151, a bill which, if passed, will hurt every educator in this state who is a member of STRS; you of all people -- your OWN pension system!!!

Are you one of those legislators who believe screwing the pension systems (and hurting thousands of retirees who are already suffering financial hardships) and tampering with foreign policy, a job which clearly belongs in Washington, is going to solve the problems in the Middle East? This is playing right into the hands of the terrorists, not scaring them off!

Please explain! And please explain why ONLY the pension systems are being targeted, and not all the others in this state who have investment ties to Iran. And what do you propose the legislature should do when thousands of retirees end up on the state's welfare and Medicaid rolls someday as a result of HB 151?
