Subject: RE: Prof. Tom Hall: for STRS Investment Appointee by Sen. Pres. and House Speaker
The STRS Board seat has been vacant for over 2 years. Interview Prof. Hall for this appointment.
Professor Tom Hall of Miami University holds a Doctorate in Economics with experience at the US State Department Bureau of Economics and Business Affairs serving on the Planning and Economic Analysis Staff. Tom Hall has authored books and articles on business cycles, market structure performance, velocity and variability of monetary growth, economic fluctuations and productivity. His prolific background and expertise in investments, market trends and economics enables Tom Hall to bring his extensive knowledge to the STRS Board. He understands how the economy operates and factors which impact values of stocks, bonds, and real estate, which constitute the bulk of the STRS investment portfolio.
Tom Hall is adamant that former board behavior never be repeated and outraged at the misspending by dipping into memberships' money. He wishes to help lead the board to future solutions by utilizing his background to:
• Hold down operating costs, administrative bloat, and overhead.
• Oversee the investment portfolio with prudence -- safely/properly diversifying funds.
• Strictly adhere to ORC: 3307.15
• acting solely to benefit the STRS membership.
• Seek avenues that permit continuation of Health Care and Prescription benefits for all retirees -- current and future.
• Communicate and be responsive with an open door to membership with no affiliation to any organization influencing him.
Many board members come unprepared to the STRS and need a long learning curve, due to lack of experience in issues that come before the board. Prof. Hall is well prepared, knowledgeable of the history of misspending at STRS and the issues he will face as board member. Plase seat this fine man who will fight for membership rights. He has made a strong statement in favor of securing your future retirements and health care. He is not bound by an organization's politics or agenda. Please help keep STRS independent, with board members who represent membership, as dictated by law and not a particular organization.
