Subj: Laura gives out a tentative schedule and Dr. Leone won't be at the August meeting as he has accepted an administrative position.....
...in the Lancaster public school system.
Good luck, Doc and thanks for ALL you've done...let us hope your tradition against fighting entitlements at STRS will continue on in the hearts and minds of retirees who really know what has happened at STRS and is continuing to happen. We will miss you. You have given the better part of a decade to look out for us and for that we are forever grateful. YOU were OUR watchdog! Let's hope that we will have a few board members left who can and will ask some "hardball" questions of the Administration. If they don't, we wll be right back to a "rubber stamp" board and will be led to the sacrifice.

Subject: Response to E-Mail
Good afternoon, Molly. I am replying to your e-mail regarding the board meeting agenda for August. While it is still a preliminary agenda, at this time we anticipate that the board will discuss its long-term contingency plan on Thursday morning, Aug. 20, and also on Friday morning, Aug. 21. At this time, the discussions are scheduled to begin at 9 a.m. on both days. Public participation is scheduled for Thursday, Aug. 20, following the Executive Director’s Report, which is usually presented around 1 p.m. However, I would caution that sometimes additional changes can occur to the agenda (especially to start times) when we are this far out from the meeting date. I would encourage you to check our Web site (
www.strsoh.org) where the public meeting notice for each board meeting, including the scheduled sequence of events, is posted one week before the meeting.
You are correct that Dr. Leone will not be at the August meeting as he has accepted an interim administrative position with the Lancaster City School District and will be leaving the board effective Aug. 17, 2009. As you know, his term on the board was to end on Aug. 31.
I hope this information is helpful to you. Thank you.
