Kasich Demonstration
Let's all join together to show Governor Kasich how displeased we are with his policies against working families, the middle class, the poor, the unemployed, the under employed and his discriminatory actions.
Kasich is scheduled to speak at the Canton Chamber of Commerce Dinner on Tuesday, February 22, 2011
So please join us beginning at 5:00 p.m. in front of the Canton Civic Center [1101 Market Ave. N., Canton, OH; driving directions here], where we will demonstrate our concerns. Bring signs, banners or anything else you wish to display. Invite your friends, family, church groups, clubs and other organizations - ALL ARE WELCOME!
Governor Kasich's colleagues have presented Senate Bill 5 which among other things:
• Prohibits public employers from picking up extra employee pension contributions
• Removes health insurance from collective bargaining. Management will pick insurance policies, and employees must cover at least 20 percent of the cost.
• Allows schools or local governments in fiscal emergency to terminate or modify a collective bargaining agreement
"Now my concern with the teachers union is that I am convinced they are a lot more concerned with their own situation rather than the situation of our children, we need to break the back of organized labor in the schools." Kasich said.
