Dear Senator Harris,

I am writing you and House Speaker Husted in the hope that you will remove your appointee, Geoffrey Meyers, from the STRS Board.

He is out of touch with the reality of the STRS retirees whom he is supposed to protect. He has recently become more vocal in expressing his opinions on Board matters, and we are learning that he seems to lack an understanding of the problems of the STRS retirees. He has shown disrespect and impatience for other Board members who are trying to solve problems.

I could go on and on but what we need is for you to come up with a replacement for Mr. Meyers who will work FOR Ohio Revised Code 3307.15. I have worked on the problems at STRS for three and a half years, and even though it is getting better, it is falling back to the entitlement mentality of the old STRS Board of 1998.

All of those Board members have been charged with ethics violations by the Franklin County Municipal Court. We do not want to go through that again. Please find us an honorable and responsible replacement for Geoffrey Meyers. Thank you for your consideration.
