Damon: STRS data encrypted; stolen information from state computers, not STRS

Subject: NONE from STRS: Damon: Stolen info
Thanks, Damon.
Much info is out there. Always ask if you have a question so we can try to pinpoint an answer.

Molly:
No data from STRS is missing. As near as we can determine, what is missing is the payroll and related information for active employees and some recent retirees of the Ohio Department of Education and teachers who teach in state institutions. There are approximately 1000 such employees.

The data was maintained on state computers - not STRS computers. All STRS information is encrypted.

Damon, Can you help with this question? Have those whose info was part of the stolen data been identified? Thanks.

Molly: I read or heard somewhere that our info (STRS) was in that cassette that was stolen in Columbus. Is that true? They said medical records, ss numbers, names, banks, etc. Should we be contacting our banks?
