The loud, smoky bar is the hub of this upscale boƮte in German Village---a Georgetown-like red brick enclave that passes for old by Columbus standards. The high ceilings and multi-level dining areas that radiate from the bar's bustle are more Victorian than Old German, giving the feeling of a one-time town mansion that's been reconfigured into a business. Lindey's is a place to see, be seen, make new friends and meet old ones. Recommended dishes on the bistro-style menu include rack of New Zealand lamb, spiced duck breast with almond wild rice and poached pears, and pan-roasted striped bass with lemon couscous. The service here is fine, and so is the wine list, if you don't mind paying astronomical prices.
[Note: There's also a very nice Lindey's Cafe at Polaris. I doubt if there's smoking in either restaurant any more, since the state's smoking laws have changed. KBB]
