Your Help is Needed NOW

Sept. 10, 2006
When Dennis Leone spoke to RTAs recently, many retirees wanted to know how they could express their support for what he and John Lazares are trying to do as STRS Board members. We must make our voices heard!! (I know, I'm a broken record.) Judging from past experience, it looks like nobody will pay any attention to us unless/until we demand it. We need numbers and we need loud and frequent voices, because most of the Board doesn't seem to hear us. It isn't that they don't know what retirees want; it's more like they don't care, judging from their actions. Their actions as STRS Board members repeatedly indicate that they are particularly insensitive to the difficulties many retirees face when it comes time to pay their bills!!
They've heard from a number of us many times and have pretty well tuned us out; it's time for you to jump in and help. Keep yourself informed on what's going on; please make your voice heard; make it heard OFTEN; and spread the word to others to do the same. Every little bit helps; we're all in this together. The wrong people are in control of OUR funds, and we must work to change it -- it's OUR future. "Together we can...." Please scroll down just below this post for a current list of STRS Ohio Board and senior staff members, along with contact information. Thank you.

Please contact Gov. Taft and urge him to appoint a highly qualified and interested candidate, Tom Hall (please click to read more about him), to replace Judith Fisher, an appointed investment expert who resigned in July from her position on the Board.

The more they hear from us, the more likely they are to listen to us. It's your retirement; ALL retirees need to help to preserve it. Dennis Leone and John Lazares are only two people and can do only so much; we are thousands, and we can and MUST provide the backing and the voice they need! PLEASE SPREAD THE WORD.
