The State Teachers Retirement Board and Committee meetings currently scheduled at the STRS Ohio offices, 275 East Broad Street, Columbus, Ohio 43215, are as follows:

The Retirement Board meeting will come to order at 9 a.m. on Thursday, January 13, 2011, and begin with a report from the Investment Dept., followed by a report from the Communication Services Department, the Executive Director's Report, public participation, a report from the Member Benefits Department - Health Care, routine matters, old business, new business or any other matters requiring attention.

CORE to meet January 13, 2011

CORE (Concerned Ohio Retired Educators) will hold its January meeting on Thursday, January 13th at the STRS building at 275 East Broad Street in Columbus. Parking is free in the STRS parking garage located in the rear part of the building. We encourage you to also attend the STRS Retirement Board meeting on the same day (same building); it usually begins around 9:00 a.m. on the Thursday of the week the Board meets, in the 6th floor Board Room. Since the schedule may vary from month to month, you are advised to check the STRS website (www.strsoh.org) to confirm the time and the meeting dates.

Please remember that CORE meeting attendees usually leave the STRS Board meeting around 11:30 to go to the cafeteria on the 2nd floor to get our lunches. We take them to the small cafeteria room behind the Sublett Room (adjacent to the cafeteria) where the CORE meeting begins promptly at 11:45.

The January meeting will be an "extended" meeting to work on talking points for possible actions which the new legislature may have in mind for our pension and healthcare. We will ask for volunteers to return to the STRS Board meeting room around 1:00 while the rest of us remain to brainstorm ideas. If you have additional suggestions for the January CORE meeting agenda, please send them to John Curry (curryjo@watchtv.net), who will relay them to CORE President Dave Parshall.
